The special touch, with Alexia Cabrera Hache
Alexia is the mind behind A Pinch of Blonde, an emerging interior designer and also a close friend to our creative director Laura Isabel. Since meeting as college roommates, Alexia has become a loyal Clementina collection after collection. For this series, we invited Alexia to share a bit about her passion for design as well as her experience as a Clementina.
You have the talent of creating memorable spaces and details. How did you discover your passion for design and how do you keep nurturing your inspiration?
Since I was a little girl, I always joined my mom’s latest design projects. I wandered around, placing things in unique positions here and there. A client of hers even started calling me “Cora” as in “decoradora”. From those early discovery days, my passion for design became a strong part of me. I constantly continue to nurture my inspiration by traveling and by educating my eyes about all things culture.
What advice would you give someone who wants to live their days more beautifully?
“El amor nunca deja de ser” - the words I live by and repeat to myself every morning. I strongly believe that beautiful, productive days start by doing things with love, passion and dedication. And, obviously, you can’t forget your daily “cafecito” dose from “Cafe Santo Domingo”.
You constantly highlight the importance of details, aesthetics and image. As a Clementina, how do you feel Clemente pleases the senses of its audience?
Clemente truly goes beyond the importance of details, aesthetics and image. In everything that Clemente dips its fingers into, it is like a touch of inspiration, passion, and love. From their elegant packaging to their sophisticated campaigns, Clemente’s dedication shines through. As an insider of the behind-the-scenes version of the brand, I must admit that I am deeply inspired by the work of the co-founders. My dear college friend Laura, her sister Ana and her mother Maria, are a beautiful example of a mother-daughter trio turning dreams into reality.
What are your biggest dreams, and how do you plan on making these come true?
Beyond becoming a well-known interior designer, my biggest dream is to accelerate the growth of the design industry in the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is rich in culture - from its food and dances, to its curiosities and “rinconcitos”. Through my interior design, I look forward to bringing a bit of the Dominican culture to both local and global audiences.
Your style is elegant, vintage, and romantic. How do you feel Clemente resonates with your essence?
Tough question. Every Clemente I own is as beautiful as the others, but I would say my favorite panuelo is the “Belleza Turquesa”. Just the title of the piece made me fall in love with it. The blue-green, bright tones are a true reflection of my essence. The pañuelo of my dreams is one that is inspired by the beaches of the Dominican Republic, with sea, sand and tropical color tones.
